As we become more aware of the various viscera inside our gadgets, otherwise unremarkable gadgets seem suddenly... strange. Take the LG Arena Max LU9400: It's almost definitely a feature phone, but it's got the spec sheet of a Nexus One.

The Arena Max is a 3.5-inch screen handset with all the iron you'd expect, including a Wi-Fi, GPS and a five-megapixel camera, and a little you wouldn't, like a 1GHz Snapdragon processor—the same brain you'd find in the Nexus One, the HTC Touch HD2, and the Sony Xperia X10. In other words, it's a monster.

But if it's anything like its predecessor—and these early shots seem to indicate that it is—it'll be treated to (burdened by?) an in-house OS and UI, most probably LG's flashy-but-limited S-Class experiment. If you're the kind of person who doesn't fret over your phone's spec sheet this probably won't matter; if you are, you'd probably just buy a real smartphone anyway.

The SX210 is the standout of Canon's four new PowerShots point-and-shoots, shooting 14MP stills and 720p video (with stereo sound), using 14x 28mm wide-angle zoom lens.

The SD3500 is their touch camera, also 14MP and 720p, but uses a 5x 24mm wide-angle lens.

And then you've got the SD1400 and SD1300, some of their smallest point-and-shoots. The SD1400, surprise, also 14MP and 720p video, but with a 4x zoom lens, while the cheaper SD1300 shoots 12MP and sadly, no 720p video.

The SD3500 is their touch camera, also 14MP and 720p, but it's got a 5x 24mm wide-angle lens, and it's strikingly devoid of buttonage, because it's entirely touch-based, unlike their last, kinda awkward touchcam. Like the SX210, Canon's stressing its compatibility with Eye-Fi wireless SD cards. It's $330.

And then you've got the SD1400 and SD1300, their tiniest point-and-shoots. The $250 SD1400, surprise, also 14MP and 720p video, but with a 4x zoom lens, while the cheaper SD1300 shoots 12MP and sadly, no 720p video for $200.

I'm a little skeptical of 14 megapixels crammed into such tiny cameras—I especially wanna compare the higher-end SX210 to the S90, since I know the kind of pictures 50 extra bucks will get you. But we'll see.

The T1i's not even a year old, and Canon's knocking it down: The Rebel T2i pulls from the 7D, delivering 18 megapixels and legit 1080p video (24, 25 or 30fps) for $900.

The T2i pulls from the higher-end 7D almost the same way the T1i pulled from the 50D, though it has its own unique sensor that simply borrows the gapless microlens tech from the 7D, which was supposedly why it could cram 18MP onto an APS-C-sized chip with noise the size of boulders. The main thing you lose is that you only get a 4-channel readout with this sensor, vs. the 7D's 8-channel. It shoots at 18.1MP, with an ISO range of 100-6400, and extended up to 12,800 with a 9-point AF (only the center point is cross-type though) and the 7D's IFCL 63-layer dual-zone metering system, but adapted for the 9 AF points.

The 1080p video isn't gimped like the T1i, either, with fully select framerates (30, 24 or 25fps) and manual exposure (+/- 5 stops), plus the codec's H.264. Sound's mono, but you can jack in a stereo mic. Also, there's a new "movie crop" mode that effectively zooms in 7x by only using the center part of the sensor, though you only get standard def video out of it.

The interface, ergonomics and controls and more like the 7D's as well, with a dedicated movie button and quick info screen, though you can't customize the controls quite as extensively. The body's not quite as durable, swapping metal for polycarbonite (one of the things the extra $1000 for the 7D gets you). The screen sounds impressive: 1.2-million dots should pop out of the 3-inch display. Lastly, for memory you've got your choice of SDHC of SDXC.

The Rebel's getting shuffled a bit: The T1i is sliding down to be the new mid-entry-level, while the XSi is going away, and the XS sticks around as the bottom of the barrel DSLR.

At $899 for the kit with a pretty standard 18-55mm lens, or $799 body only, this, people, is the new entry-level camera to get. (At least on paper.)

On one hand the BenQ V2220/V2220H is a 21.5-inch LCD monitor that manages to be the thinnest in its class (just 15mm). On the other, BenQ has taken the whole "dynamic contrast ratio" fib to a whole new level.

They claim a 10,000,000:1 DCR with their edge-lit LED technology.

(Keep in mind, the human eye can only see somewhere between 50,000:1 and 100,000:1...meaning that you can't even prove BenQ wrong!) But we know the claim is particularly ridiculous, as the static contrast ratio is an absurdly typical 1000:1.

Still, the marketing doesn't mean you should write off BenQ's latest 'V' LCD line completely. In sizes ranging from 18.5-inches to 24-inches, with inputs including DVI, D-Sub and HDMI (on 'H' designated models), Taiwan will receive the new monitors this month for an undisclosed price. If there's something more spectacular than a space shuttle launch that's a night shuttle launch. Sadly, the last one happened tonight. Happily, it was filmed in perfect high definition. Endeavour carries another last thing too:

This is NASA's last module for the space station. Called Tranquility, the 21-foot long, 14-foot wide module will be facing Earth, connected to the Unity node. It will provide with an additional dock port for the space shuttle—soon to be canned—and other crew spacecrafts. It will also bring one of the most entertaining features for astronauts, who spend 90% of their free time looking at Earth: Tranquility includes an attachment called Cupola, a huge view port with seven windows, six on the sides and one on top.

ASUS listened to those grumbling about the lack of Wi-Fi in the O!Play HDP-R1 media streamer, and has added Wi-Fi 802.11n to the newest model, the O!Play Air HDP-R3, for streaming 1080p video. You're allowed to cheer, folks.

The O!Play streamers are very highly-regarded here at Gizmodo, especially when considering they don't cost more than 200 notes. The addition of Wi-Fi 802.11n, along with a multi-format card reader and ethernet port, for €129.90 in Italy (around $177), is definitely worth the few extra bucks. [ASUS via Slashgear]

We knew their integrated AMOLEDs were on the way soon, and while the first device (which supposedly has a 3.3-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen) hasn't been named/specced-out, at least we know it'll have more sharp corners than the Motorola Droid. Crazy boasts are already being thrown around, suggesting the AMOLEDs will be five times brighter than the average phone, and will perform 20 per cent better when used outside—which is definitely an important issue, for anyone who struggles using their phone in direct sunlight.
